Hi, we are Lexi&Bö and this is our story
Lexi&Bö was founded in the Summer of 2014. We had one simple reason for doing so: to finally offers divers a way to show everybody their love for exploring the underwater world. For a long time, we were disappointed by the lack of lifestyle clothing choices available to divers, which is why we decided to take matters in our own hands.

For quite some months, we were trying to find a good designer and once we did, we were able to produce our current collection, of which we are very proud. As complete novices, we asked the Armed Angels for advice, which produce their clothing under fair circumstances. This means that the shirts are manufactured under sustainable and fair conditions. We loved this idea, so we decided to make it a core pillar of our concept.

In January, we received an offer for a booth at the Boot 2015, one of Germany’s, if not the most important trade fair for everything revolving around water sports. At that point, we had only produced 5 exemplary shirts. We just took those, printed them on posters and decorated our booth with those posters. Our designer worked the entire night, but his results were outstanding.

The shirts received a great feedback and we quickly learned which shirts are most sought after. In addition, we also conducted a survey without potential customers to learn what they pay the most attention to when buying a shirt. We used the results during our next batch and can now proudly proclaim that our shirts offer an even higher quality. To start production, we needed seed money. That’s why we decided to conduct a crowdfunding campaign and picked Indiegogo to do so. However, we also needed a video to properly present our project, which is why we looked for a DP. We contacted a photographer we met at Boot 2015 and he happily invited us to his studio in Mannheim.

So we went on the road to his studio and prepared the scenery and models for the shooting. We paid great attention to detail, because the footage should also go on the website. The photographer organized the models and we are very content with the outcome. The crowdfunding video was made from some of the scenes recorded during the photo shoot and cut together with our personal message and some great tunes. Standing in front of a camera and looking good is much harder than one might think; especially if you have to do so in English. OMG! But, there is a first time for everything..

Finally, our crowdfunding campaign could commence.
The beginning went just as anticipated; many friends and family members participated and bought our shirts. We bought some ad space on Facebook and Twitter and even some people we didn’t know pledged money. However, the campaign lost a bit in speed and we were unsure if we could meet our funding goal. Towards the end, we were lucky to find some investors who believed in our project, which allowed us to raised the full amount. Production was ready to begin!

After some rounds of pattern feedback, we found one prototype we all liked. Now, we had to design labels indicating washing instructions and showing our brand. In addition, we also needed to pick and design packaging, as well as build an online store. Moreover, we also obtained a GOTS certification and are delighted about our sustainable clothing production. Here we are and we are very excited about our shirts made specifically for divers. It was a long road, but we can say, it was totally worth it! ;)

Our review of the year 2015

2015 was a fantastic year for us. With your help we were able to reach some milestones. In our review 2015 we have put together our most important stages once again.

Introducing Markus Roth - Underwater photographer and guest blogger

We’re excited to introduce Markus Roth, our new guest blogger. As an underwater photographer, he writes for well known diving magazines, both in Germany and around the world.

Why we support Yaqu Pacha

Yaqu Pacha supports researchers in Brazil to explore the habitat of the bottlenose dolphins. The goal is the development of protective measures. Some of the results from studies conducted by Yaqu Pacha have lead to a new fishing law, which the Brazilian government enacted in 2012.
